Trump supporter Laura Loomer rebuffed following bigoted remarks about Harris
Loomer received an invitation to accompany the former president on his travels as a guest.
Right-wing activist Laura Loomer, closely linked with Trump, faced criticism from Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene on social media for employing racist and offensive cultural stereotypes targeting Harris, whose mother was from India.
“This is appalling and extremely racist,” Greene stated on X, reacting to Loomer's comment. “It does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA. This does not represent President Trump. This type of behavior should not be tolerated ever.”
The critique was directed at Loomer’s post which suggested that if Harris is victorious in November, “the White House will smell like curry & White House speeches will be facilitated via a call center and the American people will only be able to convey their feedback through a customer satisfaction survey at the end of the call that nobody will understand.”
Loomer’s controversial post followed Harris's own share on X about her childhood visits to her grandparents in India.
On the same day as the social media controversy, Loomer joined Trump on his private plane to the presidential debate in Philadelphia and accompanied him and his top campaign aides to 9/11 commemorative events in Manhattan and Pennsylvania. Throughout Wednesday, Loomer, who has controversially labeled 9/11 an “inside job,” shared images and videos of Trump with families of victims and first responders. While Loomer is not officially part of the campaign team, she is often seen as an informal advisor and was present as Trump's guest.
Neither Trump's campaign nor Loomer responded to inquiries for comment.
Additionally, Loomer has been spreading dubious claims about Haitian migrants in Ohio on social media, some of which have been echoed by Trump and other conservative figures, including Trump’s vice-presidential candidate, JD Vance.
This is not the first altercation between Greene and Loomer; both influential MAGA figures have clashed in the past. For instance, last year when there were talks of Trump potentially hiring Loomer, Greene described her as “mentally unstable and a documented liar,” and cautioned Trump against associating with her. Nevertheless, Trump has maintained his favor towards both women.
Greene herself has not been immune to controversy, facing backlash for previous antisemitic and Islamophobic comments, leading to attempts by senior House Republicans to dissociate from her following her offensive remarks before her election in 2020. She had also controversially remarked that Black individuals were "enslaved to the Democratic Party."
Requests for comments from Loomer and Greene's spokesperson were not immediately answered.
