The pilot of a small single-engine aircraft has been killed, authorities have reported.

On Saturday, a small aircraft crashed into two homes in Simi Valley, California, resulting in the pilot's death, according to officials.

The Federal Aviation Administration indicated that the single-engine Van’s Aircraft RV-10 had departed from General William J. Fox Airfield in Lancaster, situated north of Los Angeles, and was heading towards Camarillo Airport in Ventura County.

The Ventura County Fire Department confirmed that occupants were present inside both homes at the time of the incident but managed to evacuate without sustaining injuries. The pilot's identity has yet to be disclosed.

A witness recounted to RMG News that he observed the plane “flying very low and erratic” immediately before the crash.

Additionally, the Ventura County Fire Department posted on Twitter about the incident, stating, “#meadowincident; VCFD is on scene of a small, single engine fixed-wing aircraft that crashed into two structures in the 200 block of High Meadow Street in the Wood Ranch area of Simi Valley. The United States has seen a spate of tragic aviation incidents in recent months. In late January, a collision between an American Airlines plane and a US Army helicopter over the Potomac River in Washington, DC, resulted in the deaths of 67 individuals across both aircraft. Shortly thereafter, a medical plane crashed in Philadelphia, leading to the fatalities of all six passengers on board and one person on the ground.
