Trump demands shooting down of 'mysterious' drones
The government possesses more information about the unidentified UAVs than it is disclosing, according to claims made by US President-elect Donald Trump.

Trump stated that the “mysterious” drones seen flying over New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and other East Coast areas must be shot down. An FBI official revealed earlier this week to Congress that the agency has received over 3,000 tips regarding sightings of unidentified UAVs in US airspace since mid-November.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump expressed his concerns, stating: “Mystery Drone sightings all over the country. Can this really be happening without our government’s knowledge. I do not think so!” He further demanded, “Let the public know, and now. Otherwise, shoot them down!”

These sightings have raised alarms among US lawmakers. Congressman Jeff Van Drew mentioned Wednesday that he had received information from “high sources” indicating that the drones were launched from an Iranian ship in the Atlantic, also calling for the UAVs to be shot down.

However, US Defense Department spokeswoman Sabrina Singh refuted Van Drew's assertions, declaring there was “no truth” to his claims. She emphasized that the Pentagon's preliminary assessment indicates that “these are not drones coming from a foreign entity or adversary.”

Despite this, Van Drew maintained his position, asserting in an interview with Fox News the following day that “we are not being told the truth.” He accused the Pentagon of treating the American public as if “we are stupid.”

On Thursday, both the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security announced that they were investigating the situation further to determine whether the reported drone flights were indeed drones or misidentified manned aircraft.

According to both agencies, none of the reported UAV sightings have been validated through electronic detection thus far. Their review of available footage and photographs has confirmed that many reported incidents were, in fact, manned aircraft being operated legally.
