Former President Donald Trump's campaign has targeted Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, accusing her of not condemning anti-Semitism in her acceptance speech at the DNC on Thursday.
On the final day of the convention, Harris remarked that she and President Joe Biden were working tirelessly to end Israel’s actions in Gaza and ensure that the “Palestinian people can realize their right to dignity, security, freedom and self-determination.”
In response to her speech, the Trump campaign released a statement on Friday that highlighted the topics Harris “didn’t mention.” Among these omissions, they noted that Harris “didn’t mention antisemitism, which has reached crisis levels and roiled college campuses as she attempts to appease her far-left voting base.”
Pro-Palestine activists have organized numerous protests throughout the United States since the outbreak of the war in Gaza last year, with many demonstrations occurring on college campuses. Protesters have often confronted American politicians and disrupted public events.
Earlier this week, a significant number of Palestinian supporters dismantled a section of the metal security fence outside the DNC in Chicago, calling on President Joe Biden to cut military aid to Israel and urge the Israeli government to halt its actions against Hamas.
During her Thursday address, Harris also asserted her commitment to “stand strong” with Washington’s NATO allies and vowed to “stand up for Israel’s right to defend itself,” emphasizing that “the people of Israel must never again face the horror that the terrorist organization Hamas caused on October 7.”
The incursion into Israel by the Palestinian armed group resulted in around 1,200 fatalities and approximately 250 hostages. In retaliation, Israeli airstrikes and a ground offensive in Gaza have reportedly caused over 40,000 deaths and more than 93,000 injuries, according to Palestinian health authorities.
