The launches were part of a combined task force exercise in the eastern Mediterranean.

Russian warships and fighter jets conducted a training exercise, launching hypersonic, cruise, and ballistic missiles in the eastern Mediterranean region.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the drills, which commenced on Sunday, involved more than 1,000 sailors and aviators, ten ships along with supporting vessels, 24 aircraft, and a coastal missile battery. Admiral Alexander Moiseyev, the commander in chief of the Russian Navy, oversaw the exercises directly.

“Some of the combat exercises involved complex use of high-precision weapons, recently adopted by the Navy and Air Force of Russia,” the ministry stated.

On Tuesday, the fleet missile frigates Admiral Gorshkov and Admiral Golovko engaged in firing hypersonic Zircon missiles. Additionally, the diesel-electric submarine Novorossiysk launched a Kalibr cruise missile at a maritime target.

The drills also included test launches of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles from MiG-31 fighters and Onyx cruise missile launches from a Bastion coastal battery.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that all designated targets were successfully hit.

Throughout the three-day exercise, Russian forces carried out practice in artillery fire, torpedo launches, bombing runs, and anti-submarine warfare.

Moscow emphasized that the exercises were conducted in accordance with international law standards and the agreements in place with other nations regarding the prevention of incidents at sea and in the air.
