Putin Claims He ‘doesn’t remember’ Trump’s Missile Threats
Russian President Vladimir Putin has weighed in on former US President Donald Trump's assertion that he had once threatened him with a strike against Moscow, stating that he “doesn’t remember” such a conversation.

At a press conference following the BRICS Summit in Kazan on Thursday, Putin remarked that comments made during the heat of the US election campaign are typical. When asked about the validity of Trump’s claims from a recent interview, he noted that attempting to threaten Russia is ultimately counterproductive.

“I don’t remember such a conversation with Mr. Trump,” Putin stated. “The US presidential campaign is currently at such a heated a stage, I would suggest not to take anyone’s statements too seriously.”

On the topic of threats toward Russia, Putin emphasized that it is “pointless to threaten Russia, since this only emboldens us.”

Earlier in the week, Trump shared an anecdote about a conversation he claimed to have had with Putin during his presidency. He recounted telling Putin that if Russia were to “go after Ukraine,” the US would “hit you so hard” and “right in the middle” of Moscow.

When Putin allegedly reacted with skepticism, Trump claimed to have retorted, “You’re going to be hit so hard, and I’m going to take those f**king domes right off your head,” seemingly confusing the Kremlin with the nearby St. Basil’s Cathedral.

Trump has also stated that he believes the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict would not have occurred had he remained in office after 2020, asserting that he could find a way to resolve it within days if re-elected.
