According to media reports from the Associated Press, Harris will appear with former President Obama in Georgia on October 24 and with Michelle Obama in Michigan on October 26. The information came from a senior official within the Harris campaign, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Current polls indicate a tight race between Harris and her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, on a national scale. In Georgia, Trump leads with 52% to Harris's 45%, while Harris has a slight edge in Michigan, leading Trump 47% to 45%.
Reuters highlighted that the Obama couple remains "immensely popular" among Democratic supporters, suggesting their presence could enhance Harris's prospects in these competitive states where winning margins are slim.
Recently, Barack Obama campaigned for Harris in Pittsburgh and is expected to make appearances in other swing states, including Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Michigan. This will mark Michelle Obama’s first campaign activity in the current election cycle.
Harris previously supported Obama during his successful presidential campaign in 2008 while serving as district attorney of San Francisco. Reports suggest that Obama played a significant role in assisting President Joe Biden during a difficult moment in the campaign following a rough debate against Trump in June. Biden was Obama’s vice president from 2009 to 2017.
Earlier this week, the New York Post indicated that Biden and Obama had a private conversation during a memorial service in Washington, where they allegedly concurred that Harris was not as strong as the outgoing president.
As the election season progresses, both candidates are receiving support from a range of high-profile endorsements. Celebrities backing Harris include Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Bruce Springsteen, George Clooney, Anne Hathaway, and Jennifer Lawrence.
On the other side, Trump is endorsed by notable figures such as Elon Musk, 50 Cent, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Tucker Carlson, Hulk Hogan, and Jon Voight.
