Recently, Musk has taken on a more vocal role in supporting former President Donald Trump, who has designated him to co-lead the new Department of Government Efficiency.
On Saturday, Musk shared a collage on X that illustrated President Biden awarding the medal to the fictional Star Wars villain, adding the caption: “George Soros looking quite good here. Must be the lighting.”
He also responded to another user who likened Soros to Magneto, the primary antagonist from Marvel's X-Men comics, stating that Soros receiving the honor was a “travesty.”
In his Saturday announcement, President Biden revealed the names of nineteen individuals who were awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This accolade is given to those who have made significant contributions to the prosperity, values, or security of the nation, world peace, or other noteworthy societal endeavors. Biden referred to the honorees as “good people” who have “made America and the world a better place.”
Soros, who has been linked to supporting various coups and revolutions globally through his media and propaganda network, did not attend the ceremony, with his son, Alex, accepting the award in his stead.
According to a White House statement, “through his network of foundations, partners, and projects in more than 120 countries, Soros has focused on global initiatives that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.”
Also recognized by Biden was former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, acknowledged for “making history many times over decades in public service.”
Soros commented on the award, stating: “As an immigrant who found freedom and prosperity in America, I am deeply moved by this honor.”
His critics point to his involvement in the 1992 collapse of the British pound and the Thai financial crisis that occurred five years later. Through his Open Society Foundations, Soros has sought to exert influence over political processes in various countries, with some nations, including Russia, Pakistan, and the Philippines, banning its activities.
