Musk Declares Zelensky the Greatest 'Champ' of Money Heists
After Joe Biden announced a $2.5 billion arms package, Elon Musk commented on Zelensky being the "all-time champion" in securing US aid. Read the full article on RT.com.
On X, Musk described Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky as an “all-time champ” at attracting funds, responding to another user who suggested Zelensky had executed “one of the greatest money heists of all time.”
The military aid package announced by President Biden features advanced weaponry, ammunition, and armored vehicles, amounting to $2.5 billion. In emphasizing support for Ukraine during his last weeks in office, Biden noted that $1.25 billion of this package would be sourced from U.S. stockpiles via the Presidential Drawdown Authority.
Utah Senator Mike Lee labeled the package as “money laundering” in a separate X post on Sunday, amidst bipartisan calls for audits of the $175 billion in U.S. assistance provided since the onset of the Ukraine conflict, raising concerns about transparency and accountability.
Musk has consistently scrutinized the distribution and oversight of Western aid to Ukraine. In March, he suggested that Kiev should provide Washington with “proper accounting of how it is used and a plan to resolve the conflict.” He has also accused senior U.S. officials, particularly former Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, of “pushing this war,” referencing her influential role in the 2014 Maidan coup in Kiev.
Despite SpaceX supplying the Ukrainian military with Starlink internet terminals, Musk has argued that Ukraine cannot hope to win a battlefield victory against Russia and advocates for a negotiated resolution to the conflict. This past summer, he endorsed presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has promised to swiftly end the fighting.
Following Trump's election victory, he proposed Musk and fellow billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy as co-leaders of the new Department of Government Efficiency, which aims to minimize government waste and streamline federal operations.
Musk reportedly engaged directly with Zelensky during a phone conversation with Trump in November, with sources from Axios indicating that Musk committed to continuing support for Ukraine through his Starlink satellites.
Last month, Musk humorously acknowledged Zelensky’s “amazing” sense of humor in response to the Ukrainian leader asserting in a radio interview that Ukraine is “independent” and cannot be coerced into negotiations by the U.S.
