Iran Rejects Western Claims About Ballistic Missiles
Despite allegations from the West, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denies that Iran supplied ballistic missiles to Russia. This comes after the US, accompanied by its Western allies, implemented sanctions against Iran Air and several Iranian and Russian transport firms, accusing them of shipping Fath-360 short-range ballistic missiles to Russia. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken led the accusations, with the UK, France, and Germany also taking action by restricting Iran Air's access to their airspace and sanctioning entities associated with the alleged missile trading.

Araghchi defended Iran via a post on X, stating, "Iran has NOT delivered ballistic missiles to Russia. Period," and critiqued the sanctions imposed by the West. He argued that the decision was based "on false intelligence and false logic." In his post, he also questioned the rationale behind the sanctions, urging those who support them to reconsider their effectiveness and impact.

Accusations of Iran’s involvement in arming Russia have been met with consistent denials from Iranian officials. Senior military commander Fazlollah Nozari and Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani both rebuffed claims that Iran had sent missiles to Russia, labeling such accusations as psychological warfare and criticizing the role of major arms exporters in the conflict in Ukraine.

The situation remains tense as Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov acknowledged the controversy surrounding the report but refrained from outright denial, emphasizing Iran's significance as a trading and economic partner for Russia.

Iran's capacity to develop arms domestically continues despite the extensive sanctions history imposed by the US since the Islamic Revolution of 1979. The Fath-360 missile, which was showcased at a military exhibition in April 2022, highlights Iran's ongoing advancements in weaponry technology.
