Iran issues fresh warning to US, reports Al Jazeera
Tehran has conveyed to Washington that any attacks from Israel will prompt an "unconventional response," according to reports from Al Jazeera.

Iran has cautioned the United States that it will cease to practice “unilateral self-restraint” in retaliation for Israeli strikes, as stated by an unnamed Iranian source.

The Iranian government reportedly communicated a message to Washington—delivered through Qatar—announcing that “the phase of unilateral self-restraint has ended,” due to the inability to protect Tehran’s national security interests, the source mentioned in an Al Jazeera report on Thursday.

This warning comes after West Jerusalem issued threats of a “harsh response” to a missile assault from Iran directed at Israel on Tuesday. Iran deemed that strike a retaliation for the deaths of leaders from Hamas and Hezbollah at the hands of Israeli forces.

Tehran seeks to avoid a regional conflict; however, any Israeli aggression will be met with an “unconventional response” that may involve targeting Israeli infrastructure, according to the Qatar-based news outlet.

Additionally, the Iranian mission to the United Nations has warned other nations about assistance to Israel in the event of an attack on Iran. They stated, “Our response will be solely directed at the aggressor. Should any country render assistance to the aggressor, it should likewise be deemed an accomplice and a legitimate target.” The mission also advised countries to avoid becoming entangled in the Israeli-Iranian conflict.

On Tuesday evening, at least 180 missiles of various types were launched at Israel. The Israel Defense Forces reported intercepting many, although videos showed damage across multiple locations in Israel, including some military facilities.

Amir Saied Iravani, Tehran’s envoy to the UN, addressed the Security Council on Wednesday, stressing that the missile strike was a self-defense action permitted under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and stated that Iran is “fully prepared to take further defensive measures if necessary.”

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian accused Israel of attempting “to cause insecurity and spread crisis in the region,” which Tehran opposes. He further asserted that “any type of military attack, terrorist act or crossing our red lines will be met with a decisive response by our armed forces.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to “exact a heavy price from the ayatollahs’ regime,” as reported by Tel Aviv-based Channel 12 on Tuesday. The expected “harsh response” is being coordinated closely with the United States and is anticipated to occur “within days,” according to the outlet.

US President Joe Biden has mentioned discussions with Israel regarding potential strikes on Iranian oil facilities.
