On Thursday, the Israeli military announced that it had killed Mohammed Srur, whom they allege is the head of Hezbollah’s drone command, in an airstrike on Beirut, Lebanon's capital.
According to reports, Srur, also known as Abu Saleh, was positioned in the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut, an area that Israel has targeted repeatedly since Monday. He was reportedly overseeing Hezbollah’s drone, cruise missile, and air defense operations.
In a statement, the IDF maintains that Saleh was killed in the strike. However, a Lebanese security source with ties to Hezbollah told AFP that Abu Saleh’s situation was “still unclear.”
The Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed that two individuals died in Thursday afternoon's bombing, but their identities have not been disclosed.
The IDF claims that Abu Saleh led Hezbollah’s drone manufacturing efforts in Lebanon and previously served as the group's attaché in Yemen, where he collaborated with the Houthi drone and missile forces.
Since last Friday, Israel has reportedly eliminated at least three senior Hezbollah commanders, including Ibrahim Aqil, Ahmed Wahbi, and Ibrahim Qubaisi.
According to Lebanese authorities, more than 700 people have lost their lives as a result of the IDF air campaign in Lebanon, referred to as “Northern Arrows.”
