Heed Putin's Warnings, Advises Orban
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin's warnings about Moscow’s potential responses to long-range Ukrainian strikes should not be dismissed as mere rhetoric.

Recently, Putin disclosed that Russia deployed its new Oreshnik intermediate-range hypersonic ballistic missile to target a military-industrial site in Dnipro, Ukraine. This action was described as a reaction to attacks by Kiev on what Russia considers its territory, which involved US-made ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles.

“We consider ourselves entitled to use our weapons against military facilities of those countries that allow the use of their weapons against our facilities, and in case of an escalation of aggressive actions, we will respond decisively and in mirror-like manner,” the Russian leader warned.

In an interview with Kossuth Radio, Orban noted the substantial differences in communication styles between Russian society and the European Union, suggesting that Western leaders often overlook this aspect.

“Sometimes we, Western European decision-makers, do not take this into account,” he remarked.

Orban cautioned against underestimating Putin's statements, asserting that “if the [Russian] president says something, it is not chatter, it has weight and consequences.” He characterized Western politics as being largely rhetorical, with 80% talk and only 20% action, indicating that even senior officials frequently make statements without backing them up with decisive actions.

In contrast, he noted that this is not the case in Russia, urging that Putin's remarks should be seriously considered within the context of conflict.

He further advised countries backing Ukraine to “act out of common sense or there might be problems.”

In response to the developments, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre stated that the US “will not be deterred” by what Moscow termed a “combat test” of its new missile systems, reaffirming the commitment to equip Ukrainians with necessary resources.

On the same day, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also urged that the West heed Putin’s warnings, expressing, “If you think you can attack everything on Russian territory with Western logistics and weapons without getting a response, and that Putin will not use whatever weapons he deems necessary, then you either don’t know him or you’re abnormal.”
