Biden had paused his re-election campaign in July amid rising concerns about his age and mental decline, subsequently naming Harris as his successor.
During the interview on Wednesday, host Bret Baier questioned Harris about when she “first noticed that President Biden’s mental faculties appeared diminished.”
In response, Harris shared that she has observed Biden’s actions “from the Oval Office to the Situation Room.”
The vice president asserted, “He has the judgment and experience to do exactly what he has done in making very important decisions on behalf of the American people.”
As Baier attempted to present a follow-up inquiry, Harris interrupted, redirecting the conversation to criticize her Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump, whom she repeatedly labeled as “unstable.”
“Joe Biden is not on the ballot, and Donald Trump is,” she noted, emphasizing that the American public “have a concern” regarding Trump’s ability to lead the nation again.
While initially hesitant to exit the race, Biden ultimately withdrew his candidacy following a problematic televised debate with Trump, during which he appeared confused and often struggled to articulate his thoughts. Harris has since commended Biden, referring to his decision to step down as “one of the most courageous” that a president could make.
