Harris Criticizes Trump for Crowd Size Before Debate

A new advertisement showcases an appearance by Barack Obama that elicited laughter during the DNC.

Harris Criticizes Trump for Crowd Size Before Debate
Democrats are attempting to rattle Donald Trump just hours ahead of his debate with Kamala Harris.

On Tuesday, the Harris campaign unveiled an ad that highlights a notable moment from the Democratic National Convention featuring former President Barack Obama. In the clip, Obama gives a meaningful glance at his hands while joking about Trump’s fixation on crowd size.

“He’s a 78-year-old billionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems,” Obama remarked from the DNC stage.

The advertisement seems designed to redirect focus onto Trump’s age and some less favorable elements of his personality before a crucial debate in Pennsylvania that could significantly impact the campaign.

This 30-second spot showcases a sequence of relatively small and gloomy crowds at Trump rallies, then transitions to footage of a Harris event brimming with attendees.

“Tonight’s debate will present the stark choice Americans will face at the ballot box: between Vice President Harris who is fighting for the people to make our lives better, and the guy who can’t seem to stop obsessing about himself and the size of his crowds,” said Michael Tyler, Communications Director for Harris’ campaign, in a statement.

The ad is part of the $361 million raised by the Harris campaign last month and is set to air nationally on cable, as well as locally in West Palm Beach—near Mar-a-Lago and another resort owned by Trump—along with Philadelphia, where the debate is scheduled.

In addition to the television ad, there are also Philly-themed advertisements plastered all over the city, including billboards, food trucks, and taxis. One such ad, which references crowd size as well, features a large pretzel emblazoned with Harris’ name alongside a smaller pretzel bearing Trump’s name.

The Trump campaign did not respond promptly to a request for comment.
