Father of Musk states son is ‘not cut out for politics’
Errol Musk has shared his thoughts on growing speculation surrounding his son Elon Musk's potential involvement in politics, particularly related to the Trump administration.

According to Errol Musk, Elon is “not cut out for politics,” citing his son's personality as a barrier to effectively connecting with the diverse individuals necessary for public office engagement.

As the wealthiest person in the world and the owner of Tesla, SpaceX, and X, Elon Musk has exerted substantial influence within US President Donald Trump's administration, notably through his advisory role in the Department of Government Efficiency. Critics have expressed concerns regarding his significant power, accusing him of attempting to dismantle key aspects of the federal government.

In a recent interview with Al Arabiya News, Errol Musk dismissed the notion of his son pursuing a political career. He stated, “Politics is where you have to deal with everyone, from the very incredibly clever to the very somewhat not clever, the highly sophisticated to the very unsophisticated. If you can’t do that, don’t get into politics.”

Errol also drew a comparison between Elon’s potential political future and that of Trump, asserting that the president's bold demeanor makes it difficult for him to relate to average voters, a challenge Elon would likely face as well.

Following an incident during Trump’s inauguration rally last month, where Elon Musk faced criticism for a gesture some likened to a “Nazi salute,” Errol dismissed the allegations of his son being a Nazi as “nonsense,” suggesting that Elon’s actions are often misconstrued. "Elon is a terrible public speaker. He has a lot to learn. We all do… Knowing him as well as I do, I mean, I know him very well, that he was struggling to get through his little speech as fast as possible and to try and look as charming as possible as he could,” he remarked.

Additionally, Errol implied that Elon’s gesture might have been an “international salute,” with roots spanning “for the last 10,000 years or more.”

While Elon Musk has faced criticism for his efforts to streamline federal agencies, Trump has consistently backed his initiatives. Even without a formal cabinet role, the White House has referred to Musk as a “special government employee” and “senior adviser” to Trump. Most recently, Musk participated in Trump’s inaugural cabinet meeting, where the president commended his contributions, stating, “ALL CABINET MEMBERS ARE EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH ELON,” on TruthSocial prior to the gathering.
