Ex-CDC Chief Challenges Official Narrative: "Did the US Help Create Covid-19?"
Dr. Robert Redfield proposes that the virus was artificially created in a laboratory, implicating US involvement. Read Full Article at RT.com
Nearly five years after the outbreak of Covid-19, narratives surrounding its origins are still being tightly controlled by the Western establishment, with recent claims indicating a possible cover-up tied to US national security.
Dr. Robert Redfield, who previously led the US Centers for Disease Control, has come under fire for his views that challenge the accepted narrative surrounding the pandemic. Redfield, who was CDC director during Donald Trump’s first term, recently shared on a podcast that he believes the Covid virus was “intentionally engineered as part of a biodefense program,” asserting that “the US role was substantial,” with funding from the “National Institutes of Health, the State Department, USAID, and the Defense Department” supporting relevant research.
He identified a researcher from the University of North Carolina as likely responsible for the creation of “some of the original viral lines,” though he admitted he could not provide definitive proof. Such evidence would ideally emerge from formal hearings, not informal podcasts.
In reporting on Redfield’s comments, Newsweek stated, “Scientists agree that there is no evidence to suggest that Covid-19 originated in a lab in any country.” However, there is evidence worth considering. In 2021, Newsweek itself reached out to Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the time. Fauci clarified that US-supported research in China aimed to understand coronaviruses in bats that could potentially cause widespread disease, stating, “The body of science produced by this research demonstrates that the bat coronavirus sequences published from that work NIH supported were not SARS-CoV-2.”
Fauci further argued that the US-backed gain of function research was not focused on viruses that could infect humans, suggesting a remarkable coincidence that the outbreak’s epicenter occurred near a Washington-funded Chinese lab engaged in gain of function work on related viruses, though not specifically SARS-CoV-2.
Redfield’s podcast remarks also redefined the responsibility of China, an angle likely to frustrate the Western establishment. He noted, “When you look at the accountability for China, their accountability is not in the lab work and in the creation of the virus. Their accountability is not following the international health regulations after they realized they had a problem,” hinting at American interests possibly driving the research agenda.
Questions arise as to why the American public is learning about such serious implications through an obscure podcast rather than through more official channels. Redfield, who has also testified in congressional hearings on Covid, expressed frustration with the prevailing narrative: “It was told to me that they wanted a single narrative, and that I obviously had a different point of view,” he said, adding, “Science has debate and they squashed any debate.”
Amid conflicting views and a lack of consensus within the US government regarding Covid’s origins, the establishment media swiftly dismisses dissenters who challenge the notion that the virus originated from a bat or another animal consumed in China. The scientific community and the Western establishment maintain tight control over Covid-related narratives, labeling those who diverge from the accepted view as outliers, even when such views are expressed by a recognized authority like Redfield.
This same scientific community, which often resorted to extreme public health measures during the pandemic, shows an intolerance for dissent on various issues, including climate change. Questions linger regarding why debate remains controversial with so many unresolved issues.
Furthermore, the psychological impact of the pandemic continues to affect many, leading to ongoing demands for vaccinations. Some jurisdictions, including Texas and Florida, have taken steps to limit the promotion of Covid vaccinations, while a public health authority in Ohio has halted their availability.
Compounding concerns about transparency, the House Oversight Committee in the past year highlighted a senior CIA officer who claimed that financial inducements were offered to analysts to endorse the natural transmission theory over the lab leak theory. If CIA involvement is a possibility, other national security agencies' roles may also warrant investigation.
Given the complexities around Covid and the lack of transparency from both government and intelligence agencies, there is growing support for a reevaluation of the evidence. Releasing classified Covid-related information could be an essential step toward accountability and a better understanding of the pandemic’s origins and the responses to it.
