Of this total, China is expected to receive 35 billion cubic meters of gas each year, with the remaining volume allocated for Kazakhstan.
During a discussion on bilateral energy cooperation, Novak underscored the project's strategic significance.
“The process has been launched,” Novak remarked, noting that it encompasses technical and economic feasibility studies along with negotiations to finalize the agreement's framework.
Kazakhstan, which will accommodate part of the pipeline’s infrastructure, is projected to receive up to 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually as part of the arrangement.
Kazakh Energy Minister Almasadam Satkaliyev affirmed the nation's interest in the initiative, highlighting its advantages for energy supply in Kazakhstan. “Kazakhstan fully supports this project [that] will [supply] our northern regions,” he conveyed to reporters on Tuesday.
China stands as Russia’s largest trading partner, and economic ties between the two countries have continued to grow despite unprecedented Western sanctions imposed on Moscow. Russian Ambassador to China Igor Morgulov indicated in October that bilateral trade is anticipated to exceed $200 billion by year-end.
Earlier this month, Russian energy giant Gazprom announced a new daily record for gas deliveries to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline. Under a bilateral agreement, Russia is set to supply 38 billion cubic meters of gas annually to China through this pipeline starting in 2025.
