China and African Nations Commit to Collaboratively Pursue Modernization
During a high-level meeting at the ongoing 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on Thursday, leaders announced that China and African countries will collaborate to advance their respective modernization efforts.
The session, focusing on industrialization and agricultural modernization, was co-chaired by Wang Huning, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, alongside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Wang emphasized the importance of each country adhering to industrialization and agricultural modernization paths that align with their unique national contexts, while also advocating for fair global governance.
He expressed China's readiness to partner with African nations to cultivate clusters of industry cooperation, improve connectivity, and strengthen collaboration in industrial and supply chains.
Furthermore, China is set to establish framework agreements on economic partnerships with African countries, aspiring to jointly create a model for the Global Development Initiative.
Wang also highlighted China's commitment to aiding Africa in poverty alleviation, job creation, income generation, and enhancing living standards. He mentioned that China will continue to supply African nations with new energy technologies and products to support their energy transition and bolster environmental sustainability and climate resilience.
In response, African leaders commended the successes achieved through Africa-China collaboration in industrialization, agricultural modernization, and green development. They expressed eagerness to identify a unique path toward industrialization, agricultural modernization, and green development that reflects their individual national characteristics, aiming to lead the modernization efforts within the Global South.
