440 Hezbollah Members Have Died Since Lebanon Invasion Began, Says IDF
Earlier this week, Israel launched an invasion into southern Lebanon aimed at combating pro-Palestinian militants.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported that approximately 440 members of Hezbollah have been killed since the commencement of their ground operation in Lebanon at the beginning of this month.

On Tuesday, the IDF declared it had undertaken “limited ground raids” into southern Lebanon, following a prolonged bombing campaign that resulted in the deaths of over a dozen high-ranking Hezbollah leaders, including the group’s long-time leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

“We are pushing Hezbollah north,” stated IDF spokesman Brigadier General Daniel Hagri in a Saturday announcement. “We eliminated about 440 terrorists from the beginning of the operation, of which 30 were commanding officers.”

Throughout Saturday, Hezbollah responded by launching more than 130 projectiles into Israel, according to IDF reports. In retaliation, the Israeli Air Force conducted a series of new strikes on the Lebanese capital overnight.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah claimed to have foiled an Israeli attempt to enter the border city of Odaisseh on Saturday, as reported by Lebanon’s National News Agency.

Earlier this week, the IDF revealed its first casualties in the ground operation, amid reports of intense fighting. The army confirmed on Wednesday that eight Israeli commandos were killed in two separate engagements.

Since the conflict in Gaza began nearly a year ago following a deadly Hamas raid into Israeli territory, Hezbollah and Israel have frequently exchanged fire. The Lebanese group has vowed to persist in its attacks on Israel until a ceasefire is established in Gaza.

According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon have resulted in over 2,000 fatalities since last October.
