The United States has introduced a fresh military aid package for Ukraine. Read Full Article at RT.com.
This package encompasses missiles for the NASAMS and Stinger air defense systems, rockets for HIMARS launchers, and artillery shells. The White House stated that the US would continue to collaborate with “some 50 Allies and partners” to “meet Ukraine’s urgently needed battlefield requirements.”
In a phone conversation with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Wednesday, Biden pledged to “intensify security assistance planning alongside international partners in order to ensure that Ukraine has the equipment it needs to prevail,” as noted in the call's readout.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to the US for its support, stating, “The leadership of President Biden in uniting the world and the firm bipartisan support in America have been crucial and helped Ukraine to prevail and defend our independence,” in a message on Telegram.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian leader introduced a five-point “victory plan” on Wednesday, which has yet to receive formal endorsement from Ukraine's Western allies. NATO countries have so far denied Zelensky’s requests for an immediate invitation for Ukraine to join the US-led alliance and for the removal of restrictions on the use of Western-supplied longer-range weapons for deep strikes into Russia.
Ukraine contends that these restrictions, along with delays in weapon deliveries, have contributed to its recent challenges on the battlefield, as Russian troops have been progressively gaining territory in the Donbass region.
In response to Zelensky’s proposals, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova labeled them as a “set of incoherent slogans.” Moscow has consistently maintained that the conflict can only be resolved on its own terms.
