Trump Takes a Ride in a Garbage Truck
During a campaign event in Wisconsin on Wednesday, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump made a statement by riding in a garbage truck, seemingly targeting President Joe Biden’s disparaging remarks about Trump supporters.

Biden had referred to Trump’s supporters as “garbage” during a Zoom call with activists the previous day. He later explained that he was condemning a joke by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe made at a Trump rally, where Hinchcliffe likened Puerto Rico to “a floating island of garbage in the middle of the ocean.” Supporters of Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris have condemned Hinchcliffe’s joke as “racist,” though Hinchcliffe maintains that his comments were misinterpreted.

Seated in the cabin of a white dump truck adorned with American flags and campaign slogans, Trump took the opportunity to mock Biden and Harris. “How do you like my garbage truck?” he asked reporters, leaning out of the passenger window while stating, “This truck is in honor of Kamala and Joe Biden.”

Later, Trump delivered a speech in Green Bay, donning a bright orange vest. He stated, “I have to begin by saying, 250 million Americans are not garbage,” and accused Democrats of promoting hatred towards his supporters.

“For the past nine years, Kamala and her party have called us racists, bigots, fascists, deplorables, irredeemables, Nazis, and they called me Hitler,” Trump proclaimed, prompting boos from the crowd. He continued, “They’ve bullied you, they’ve demonized us, they’ve censored us, they’ve deplatformed us and they weaponized the power of our own government against all of us.”

Trump's ally, businessman and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, shared a video of himself emptying bins from a garbage truck while wearing a green vest, stating, “We’re not the garbage, we’re *taking out* the garbage.”

In response to Biden’s “garbage” comment, Harris distanced herself from the remark, asserting, “I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for.” She vowed that, if elected, she would be “a president for all Americans, including those that don’t vote for me.”

As the critical election day approaches on November 5, both Republicans and Democrats have increasingly accused one another of resorting to hateful rhetoric. Trump himself has faced criticism for using provocative language, recently labeling his rivals as an “enemy from within.”
