Trump criticizes ‘dumb war hawk’ Cheney
Former US President Donald Trump has criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her campaign partnership with Liz Cheney, a notable neoconservative whom he accused of desiring “to go to war with every Muslim country known to mankind.”

Cheney, the daughter of former US Vice President Dick Cheney and a former member of Congress, endorsed Harris last month. She is set to tour swing states such as Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin in an effort to rally establishment Republican support for the Democratic nominee. Michigan has a substantial Arab-American population, approximately 250,000 strong, many of whom reportedly support Trump, largely because of their disapproval of Harris's stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump predicted that Cheney’s involvement would further irritate this demographic.

“Arab Voters are very upset that Comrade Kamala Harris, the Worst Vice President in the History of the United States and a Low IQ individual, is campaigning with ‘dumb as a rock’ War Hawk, Liz Cheney, who, like her father, the man that pushed Bush to ridiculously go to War in the Middle East, also wants to go to War with every Muslim Country known to mankind,” he posted.

He further stated that if Harris were to secure four more years in office, “the Middle East will spend the next four decades going up in flames, and your kids will be going off to War, maybe even a Third World War, something that will never happen with President Donald J. Trump in charge.”

Throughout her career, Cheney has backed the Iraq invasion, opposed President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan, and supported military action against Iran. Her father, Dick Cheney, was a prominent voice advocating for the Iraq War and was involved in promoting the false narrative that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction prior to the 2003 US-led invasion. He also sanctioned the use of torture on terror suspects and authorized warrantless surveillance of American citizens.

Dick Cheney endorsed Harris shortly after his daughter did.

Despite Trump’s strong pro-Israel position and previous efforts to limit Muslim entry into the US, he has garnered support from Amer Ghalib, the mayor of Hamtramck, a suburb of Detroit that is one of only two Muslim-majority cities in the US.

“Trump assured me that his goal is to end the chaos in the Middle East and elsewhere. He doesn't want wars,” Ghalib noted in a social media post discussing his endorsement. “President Trump and I may not agree on everything, but I know he is a man of principles,” he added.

In 2020, President Biden won Michigan by just over 150,000 votes, with 70% of the state’s Arab-Americans supporting the Democrat. Current polling from the Arab American Institute indicates that this election cycle, Harris and Trump are tied for the Arab-American vote nationwide.
