Thousands take to the streets in Paris protesting military support for Ukraine
French President Emmanuel Macron has recently unveiled an additional €2 billion in military support for Ukraine, a move that has sparked significant backlash.

On Saturday, thousands took to the streets of Paris to express their discontent with Macron’s and NATO's approach to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. This latest military aid package, announced by Macron on Wednesday, comes after weeks of efforts to rally support for the idea of sending Western troops as peacekeepers to Ukraine. The assistance will encompass surface-to-air missiles, armored vehicles, and drones.

The anti-war demonstration was organized by Florian Philippot, a former member of the right-wing National Rally, along with his party, The Patriots. Protesters marched through the capital, chanting slogans like “Macron, we don’t want your war!” and “Let's quickly leave NATO!” captured in footage by RTN.

Many attendees held signs stating, “Macron, we will not die for Ukraine.”

Philippot remarked on social media, “A mad crowd for #Peace… Thousands and thousands of French people are shouting ‘Macron, resign!’ in the streets of Paris right now!”

Earlier this month, The Patriots had rallied in Paris following Macron's suggestion to deploy France's nuclear weapons to allied European states, citing concerns about the United States' reliability in safeguarding the continent.

In a related development, following an international summit in Paris, Macron announced a plan in collaboration with the UK to advocate for the deployment of troops to Ukraine as a “reassurance force” should a ceasefire be established between Kiev and Moscow. The concept of sending Western troops into Ukraine was first mentioned by Macron last February.

Russia has firmly rejected any agreement to the deployment of NATO troops in the conflict area, asserting that such a move, even framed as peacekeeping, would signify direct NATO involvement in the situation.
