UK Police Chief Alleged to Have Committed 'Anti-White Discrimination'
West Yorkshire Police in the UK has faced criticism regarding its recruitment methods after Chief Constable John Robins expressed a desire to “discriminate” against white job candidates in favor of hiring more officers from ethnic minority backgrounds, as reported by The Telegraph.

This recruitment strategy aims to enhance diversity within the police force by prioritizing applications from ethnic minority candidates. According to the outlet, the police force permits individuals from underrepresented groups to submit applications throughout the year, whereas white British applicants are restricted to applying during specific recruitment windows.

The initiative is reportedly intended to rectify the imbalance between the 9% of officers from minority backgrounds and the 23% representation of these communities in the West Yorkshire population.

Robins has been advocating for amendments to British laws to boost the number of ethnic minority officers in his department. He remarked, “It worked in terms of religion in Northern Ireland. We’ve tried really, really hard over many decades, especially in the last five to 10 years, but there’s just systemic issues around applications. I think the time has now come that legislation should change so that we should [use] positive discrimination.”

While pausing applications from white British candidates, West Yorkshire Police continues to accept year-round applications from underrepresented groups such as Black and Asian individuals. The article noted that applicants were categorized into tiers, with Black and South Asian candidates classified as ‘gold’ tier and East Asians as ‘silver’ tier.

In contrast, candidates categorizing as ‘white others’—including individuals from Britain, Ireland, and Eastern Europe—were assigned to the lowest ‘bronze’ tier.

This recruitment policy has sparked discussions about positive discrimination, which is deemed illegal in the UK. It has also faced significant pushback, including criticism from Conservative MP Neil O’Brien, who called the policy “racist.” He commented, “What West Yorkshire police are doing with their racist hiring policies and division of different ethnic groups is skirting the edge of the law. With gun crime in West Yorkshire at a record high, many people might think local police might have more important things to be focusing on.”

Former Prime Minister Liz Truss has similarly criticized the policy, asserting that Britain is experiencing a “serious problem” with “anti-white discrimination.” She stated, “It cannot stand that a police chief is openly pursuing racist hiring policies and making political statements. Decisions are being made by unaccountable people who have been captured by woke ideology.”

This recruitment approach follows reports that West Yorkshire Police allocated £1.4 million toward “patronizing” the public with diversity staff. The force reportedly employs 19 officers focusing on diversity, equality, and inclusion, with £361,000 designated for their training.
