Sexual Assault Charges Will Not Be Pursued Against Marilyn Manson

Prosecutors have announced that US rocker Marilyn Manson will not face charges of sexual assault and domestic violence following a four-year investigation in Los Angeles.
District Attorney Nathan Hochman explained that the decision was influenced by the legally mandated time limits as well as a lack of sufficient evidence.
“We have determined that allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations, and we cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt,” Hochman stated on Friday. “We recognize and applaud the courage and resilience of the women who came forward to make reports and share their experiences, and we thank them for their cooperation and patience with the investigation.”
Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, faced accusations from several women regarding incidents that allegedly took place between 2009 and 2011 in West Hollywood.
The investigation was initiated in 2021 after actress Evan Rachel Wood, who dated Manson starting in 2007 when she was 19, publicly accused him of abuse in a social media post. Manson dismissed the accusations, labeling them a “horrible distortion of reality.”
While the names of other women involved in the probe were not revealed, Esme Bianco, known for her role in ‘Game of Thrones,’ confirmed her participation. Bianco, who had previously sued Manson in a case that was later resolved, indicated that she supplied authorities with “hundreds of pieces of evidence, including photos of my body covered in bites, bruises and knife wounds.” She also expressed frustration over the delays in the investigation.
“Almost four years ago, I did what victims of rape are supposed to do: I went to the police,” she stated at a rally in 2024.
Wood published a brief statement on social media on Friday, recognizing that her claims fell outside the statute of limitations. “Evidence of violent crimes should not have an expiration date,” she wrote, expressing gratitude to the police for their investigation.
In her lawsuit, Bianco accused Manson of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, as well as breaches of human trafficking laws. She alleged that Manson lured her from England to California under false pretenses, promising roles in music videos and films. Following the prosecutor’s decision, Bianco voiced her disappointment, arguing that “once again, our justice system has failed survivors.”
Manson has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. His lawyer, Howard King, praised the decision, asserting, “We are very pleased that, after a thorough and incredibly lengthy review of all of the actual evidence, the District Attorney has concluded what we knew and expressed from the start - Brian Warner is innocent.”
After Wood’s allegations emerged, Manson lost his contracts with record label Loma Vista and talent agency CAA, and he was removed from several television projects.
