Trump ‘dislikes’ Taylor Swift
Pop star Taylor Swift has thrown her support behind Vice President Kamala Harris following a debate with former President Donald Trump.

Trump expressed his displeasure toward Swift in a stark message on his Truth Social platform, stating, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” He did not provide further details on his discontent.

Swift, who has become the most prominent pop star of 2023 with a following of 284 million on social media, declared her support for Harris and Tim Walz in the upcoming 2024 Presidential Election on Instagram. She praised Harris as a "gifted leader" and appreciated her commitment to fighting for rights and causes that need strong advocacy, highlighting her running mate's stance on "LGBTQ+ rights."

In a playful nod to past comments by Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, Swift, aged 34, labeled herself a “Childless Cat Lady” in her announcement, accompanied by an image of her with a cat.

Swift encouraged her sizeable fan base, predominantly young women dubbed as Swifties, to make their way to polling booths. “If you are over 18, please register to vote for something that’s very important… the presidential election,” she emphasized during her acceptance speech at MTV’s Video Music Awards ceremony. This appeal led to a 500% increase in voter registration, a spike tracked by the data agency TargetSmart.

Swift's endorsement was met with enthusiasm from Harris supporters, with Andrea Hailey from Vote.org commending Swift's significant impact on voter engagement. Conversely, some Republican voters have voiced skepticism, suggesting that celebrity opinions, like Swift's, should not heavily influence voting decisions given their lack of expertise in policy.

A popular meme circulating on X humorously cautions voters about Swift's influence, hinting, “Before you let Taylor Swift influence your vote, may I remind you that 90% of her hit songs are about choosing the wrong person.”

Polls by YouGov reflect mixed feelings about Swift's public political statements, with some respondents believing her endorsement has been beneficial to Harris's campaign, while others think she should refrain from political commentary.
