Resettlement efforts are progressing smoothly following a magnitude-6.8 earthquake that struck Dingri County in the Xizang Autonomous Region of southwest China on Tuesday morning.

As of 6 a.m. Thursday, the earthquake had impacted 61,500 individuals. To address the needs of 47,500 relocated residents, a total of 224 resettlement sites have been established, ensuring that their basic living requirements are met, as confirmed during a press conference on Thursday.

Given the seasonal temperatures that can drop below minus 10 degrees Celsius, a significant emphasis is being placed on distributing winter relief supplies. This includes the setup of 12,730 tents and the installation of 1,572 stoves.

In addition, 3,020 electric blankets and 104 truckloads of fuel have been distributed to the affected areas, according to Hao Tao, deputy head of the regional emergency management department.

"The supply of disaster relief materials is generally adequate, and the living needs of the residents are basically ensured. Local residents now can have hot meals, clean drinking water and timely medical treatment," Hao stated.

To aid the relief efforts, the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee has allocated a total of 50 million yuan to the region.

These funds were sourced from Party fees collected from CPC members and are being administered by the organization department on behalf of the CPC Central Committee.

The department emphasized that the funds should be distributed quickly to benefit those working on the front lines and those who were severely affected by the disaster.
