Musk Wields Significant Influence over Trump, Reports Say
Reports indicate that billionaire Elon Musk is having a significant impact on staffing decisions for the president-elect, potentially leading to conflicts of interest.

Musk, who has been appointed to a prominent position in the upcoming Trump administration, became a major supporter of Donald Trump after endorsing him following the assassination attempt on the presidential candidate in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July. Following Trump's election victory last week, Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has influenced the selection of personnel for the new administration, according to insider sources cited by several news organizations, including ABC News, CNN, and Axios.

Since the election, Musk has reportedly visited Trump’s residence in Florida almost daily. He has participated in at least two discussions between Trump and foreign leaders, sources have revealed, with reports indicating that Trump handed the phone to Musk during a call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump has praised Musk as a “genius” and highlighted his potential to enhance America's competitiveness. According to CNN, the president-elect is “enamored” with the tech billionaire.

Recently, Musk encouraged Republican senators to select Rick Scott of Florida as their next Majority Leader. He has also expressed concerns regarding Trump’s nomination of Representative Elise Stefanik of New York for the UN envoy position, stating it “might be too dicey to lose her from the House, at least for now.”

Musk will co-lead the newly established Department of Government Efficiency alongside pro-GOP entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. This department will focus on reducing bureaucracy and curbing government waste, which could affect the employment of tens of thousands of federal workers.

Last week, The New York Times cautioned about potential conflicts of interest arising from Musk’s influence on Trump's policy and staffing choices. The president-elect is considering hiring employees from Musk’s rocket company, SpaceX, for government positions, as the company is a key contractor for both NASA and the Pentagon.
