Leading Democrat Calls for Investigation into Musk's $1 Million Voter Pledge
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro expressed that Elon Musk's financial incentives to voters are “deeply concerning.” For more information, read the full article at RT.com.
Shapiro has suggested that police should investigate Musk after the billionaire announced plans to provide $1 million each day to registered voters in swing states who sign his petition advocating for the US Constitution.
On Saturday, Musk, who is the CEO of X, SpaceX, and Tesla, revealed his proposal while giving the first check to a man named John Dreher at a rally in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The billionaire stated that the financial giveaway would continue until Election Day on November 5, as he campaigns for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Shapiro, a prominent Democrat and former state attorney general, expressed his concerns about Musk’s actions, calling them "deeply concerning."
“I think there are real questions with how he is spending money in this race, how the dark money is flowing, not just into Pennsylvania, but apparently now into the pockets of Pennsylvanians,” Shapiro remarked during an appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press.
“It’s something that law enforcement could take a look at,” the governor added.
“Musk obviously has a right to be able to express his views,” Shapiro stated. “I don’t deny him that right. But when you start flowing this kind of money into politics, I think it raises serious questions that folks may want to take a look at.”
Musk's support for Trump has become more pronounced following a narrow assassination attempt against the former president in July. In recent months, Musk has reportedly donated $75 million to the pro-Trump America PAC.
As polls remain tight with just two weeks left in the campaign, both Trump and Harris are vying for crucial swing states including Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Nevada to secure victory on election night.
