Israel Has 'Narrowed Down' List of Targets in Iran, According to NBC
West Jerusalem might launch a retaliatory attack “at any time,” unnamed officials have informed the channel.

A potential Israeli strike against Iran could occur as soon as this weekend, with sources indicating that the focus of the targets has been narrowed to military and energy infrastructure, NBC News reported on Saturday, citing anonymous U.S. and Israeli officials.

Israel has not yet reached a final decision on whether to strike Iran’s nuclear sites or carry out targeted assassinations. However, U.S. officials have noted there is “no indication” that West Jerusalem would escalate to that level, according to the channel.

The situation in the Middle East is precarious after Tehran initiated a missile attack against Israel on October 1, which was reportedly in retaliation for the deaths of the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah, along with a general from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran asserts that it targeted only military sites, and there have been no reports of civilian casualties in Israel. The sole reported fatality was a Palestinian man apparently struck by missile debris.

Israel’s anticipated response to the Iranian missile strike is expected to be “deadly, pinpoint accurate, and surprising,” as stated by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant earlier this week.

Some Israeli officials have called for significant retaliatory measures, including attacks on Iran’s nuclear capabilities, while the U.S. aims to keep any response limited in order to prevent a wider conflict from developing across the region.

Iran is reportedly ready to defend itself and counter any Israeli aggression, as a source in Tehran informed RTN on Thursday, highlighting that the response would be “proportionate.” Should West Jerusalem target Iran’s oil infrastructure, Tehran intends to retaliate against Israeli oil refineries. Attacks on additional infrastructure, like power plants or nuclear sites, would similarly lead to corresponding retaliatory actions in Israel.

Tehran has cautioned West Jerusalem against engaging in any disproportionate escalatory actions. According to the source, if civilian casualties result from an Israeli attack, Tehran may reconsider its nuclear strategy, though no further details were provided.
