IDF Initiates West Bank Operation Following Bus Explosions
Israel has initiated an operation in the West Bank following a series of bus bombings.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered a military operation in the West Bank following the explosion of three empty buses in rapid succession in Tel Aviv on Thursday night.
“The prime minister has ordered the IDF to carry out an intensive operation against centers of terrorism in Judea and Samaria. The prime minister also ordered the Israel Police and the ISA to increase preventative activity against additional attacks in Israeli cities,” the prime minister’s office stated.
As reported by the Times of Israel, the police located and neutralized two additional bombs on buses after the explosions occurred in the suburbs of Bat Yam and Holon. The prime minister’s office characterized the event as “an attempt to perpetrate a chain of mass bus bombings.”
Tel Aviv police chief, Haim Sargarof, informed reporters that the attack “looks like something [that originated] in the West Bank.”
The situation unfolded with reports of three separate bus explosions in Tel Aviv, which authorities suspect were part of a coordinated terrorist assault.
- Two additional devices were found on another bus and potentially on the light rail.
- No injuries were reported.
Last month, the IDF initiated a large-scale “anti-terrorism operation” in the Jenin refugee camp, which was subsequently expanded to the Tulkarem refugee camp. Al Jazeera noted that this incursion represents the most significant IDF action in the area since 1967.
According to the UN, the ongoing conflict has resulted in the displacement of 40,000 Palestinians from northern areas of the West Bank.
This escalation occurs just a month after the Hamas-Israel ceasefire, which previously halted military activities in the Gaza Strip. Since then, the Palestinian militant organization has released numerous hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
