Kanye West's X Account Is Deactivated Following 'Nazi' Controversy
The X account of US rapper and fashion designer Kanye West, also known as Ye, became unavailable on Sunday following a series of posts that were deemed offensive and anti-Semitic.

On Friday, West made headlines with a series of declarations in which he identified himself as “a Nazi” and expressed his “love” for Adolf Hitler. He also controversially insisted that “racist stereo types [sic] exist for a reason and they all be true.” Many of his statements targeted the Jewish community, featuring various anti-Semitic claims.

It remains unclear if West, a 24-time Grammy Award winner, deleted the account himself or if it was taken down in response to his recent posts. In one of his last messages before the deactivation, he signaled that he was “logging out of Twitter,” expressing gratitude to platform owner Elon Musk for the opportunity to share his opinions.

In his later posts, West made assertions that “all white people are racist,” alleging that “Jewish people hate white people and use black people.” He further upheld his previous hateful rhetoric, claiming he would never extend an apology and implying that Jewish individuals should apologize to him instead.

West's remarks ignited significant backlash. The American Jewish Committee criticized his statements, stating that he was using his platform “to spew anti-Jewish hatred” and warned that he was “actively endangering Jews” globally, calling on the public to address this “blatant hatred.”

David Schwimmer, the star of the US sitcom 'Friends', urged Musk to remove West from X, stressing that the rapper’s “sick hate speech results in real life violence against Jews.”

In addition to his anti-Semitic comments, West showed support for Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is currently under federal investigation for alleged racketeering, sex trafficking, and misconduct involving minors. West started with a plea to “free puff” and continued to defend Combs, claiming he was selling Sean John shirts—referencing Diddy’s former clothing line—as a means to support him financially.

West has publicly disclosed his diagnosis of bipolar disorder, which he received in 2016, and recently stated that he has also been diagnosed with autism. In October 2022, sportswear giant Adidas cut ties with the rapper due to his anti-Semitic remarks, leading to the discontinuation of the Yeezy sneaker line. Just last week, Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinsky announced the end of his collaboration with West’s Yeezy brand.
