Iran has no plans to send troops to Lebanon to assist Hezbollah, says foreign ministry
Tehran has expressed its position against escalating tensions in the region, emphasizing that it is not afraid of war but advocates for a safe and stable Middle East, as highlighted by spokesperson Nasser Kanaani.

On Monday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the country will not be sending troops to Lebanon or Gaza to engage with Israel. This announcement comes in light of Israel's increased military actions against Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry clarified its stance, noting, "There is no need to send extra or volunteer forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.” Kanaani underscored the capabilities of Lebanon and fighters in the Palestinian territories to defend themselves, remarking that they possess “the capability and strength to defend themselves against the aggression.”

In recent weeks, Israel has conducted extensive airstrikes targeting Hezbollah in Lebanon and various militant groups across Syria, Yemen, and Iraq. These military actions have heightened concerns that the conflict could widen to involve the entire Middle East, potentially drawing in Iran and the United States, Israel's primary ally.

Kanaani stated, “We have not received any request in this regard from any side; on the contrary, we are informed and are sure that they do not need the help of our forces.”

Despite the tensions, he assured that Israel "will not remain without reprimand and punishment for the crimes it has committed against the Iranian people, military personnel and the resistance forces.”

Last week, Israeli airstrikes intensified significantly in Lebanon, leading to casualties that, according to local health officials, exceeded 1,000 dead and more than 6,000 injured. The escalated violence has resulted in a large-scale displacement of civilians from the most heavily bombarded regions.

The Israeli military has also targeted and killed several high-ranking Hezbollah commanders, including the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah.

On the same day, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian visited Hezbollah’s office in Tehran to honor Nasrallah, as reported by the government’s official website.
