FedEx has bolstered its logistics network in China by increasing the frequency of its cargo flights between Xiamen and the U.S., the company announced on Thursday. On the same day, it also unveiled a new international gateway operation facility in Xiamen.

Originally launched in June 2024 with weekly flights, the Xiamen-U.S. cargo route now operates five times a week, from Tuesday to Saturday. It utilizes Boeing 777 freighters and departs from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, making a stop in Incheon, South Korea, before heading to Anchorage, Alaska, and Memphis, Tennessee. This enhanced schedule reduces transit times for parcels and heavy cargo from Fujian to North America by one to two days.

The newly established Xiamen international gateway operation facility covers over 3,800 square meters and is equipped with fully automated sorting lines to improve operational efficiency. This facility predominantly serves customers in Xiamen and the surrounding Fujian region while also facilitating exports from Changsha and Shantou. By integrating customs clearance and sorting processes, it significantly enhances the handling of cross-border e-commerce and freight.

Robert Chu, vice president of FedEx China, highlighted the strategic significance of China in the company's global operations. He remarked that the expanded flights and new facility strengthen FedEx's capability to connect second- and third-tier Chinese cities with global markets, thereby supporting local export business growth.

Xiamen remains a vital hub in FedEx's operations within China, aligning with the company’s strategic collaboration with the Xiamen government aimed at enhancing international air logistics and cross-border e-commerce.

In addition to developments in Xiamen, FedEx has also increased the frequency of its Qingdao-U.S. cargo flights and opened its Qingdao international gateway facility earlier this month. These actions further improve FedEx's logistics network, allowing local businesses to leverage global trade opportunities through more efficient intelligent logistics solutions.

Celebrating its 40th year in China, FedEx operates six international logistics hubs in the country, including in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Qingdao, and Xiamen. The company employs nearly 11,000 personnel and manages over 300 international cargo flights weekly within the Chinese mainland.
