China Praises 'Best Ever' Relations with Russia
Beijing’s foreign minister, Wang Yi, has stated that relations between Russia and China have never been stronger. This assertion comes as the two neighboring nations celebrate the 75th anniversary of their formal diplomatic ties.

In an article for the People’s Daily, highlighting the significance of this milestone, Wang emphasized that comprehensive strategic coordination and mutually beneficial cooperation form a key foundation of their relationship with Russia.

“We have a strong position on the basic norms of international relations, we have a clear position on such issues as opposition to hegemony and policy of force, opposition to illegal unilateral sanctions and ‘long-arm jurisdiction’ as well as opposition to interference in the internal affairs of sovereign countries,” Wang articulated.

He further underscored the collaborative efforts of Moscow and Beijing to advance the development of the Global South, enhance the standing and influence of the BRICS group and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and foster cooperation within the G20 and Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation frameworks.

“Regardless of how the international situation may change, the essence of non-aligned, non-confrontational nature of Chinese-Russian relations that are not targeting third countries will not change,” he asserted. According to Wang, their ties rest on mutual respect, equality, and cooperation that yields benefits for both parties.

The foreign minister pointed out the strengthening trade and economic connections between the two countries, noting an increase in agricultural and food product imports from Russia and the rising popularity of Chinese automobiles and smartphones in Russia.

Cooperation has also expanded into new domains such as scientific and technological innovation, automobile manufacturing, cross-border e-commerce, and medical devices. Wang highlighted significant infrastructure initiatives, including the Power of Siberia gas pipeline, the highway bridge linking Blagoveshchensk in Russia and Heihe in China, and the railway overpass connecting Heilongjiang and Russia’s Far East.

He also stressed that the collaboration on China’s Belt and Road Initiative, along with the development of the Eurasian Economic Union, has already yielded promising outcomes.
