China Calls on U.S. to Reconsider Tariff Policies
Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao has sent a letter to Jamieson Greer, the newly appointed United States Trade Representative, offering his congratulations and voicing China's concerns regarding U.S. tariff policy.

Wang highlighted the progress made in economic and trade relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the United States. He noted that cooperation in these areas has been essential in fostering economic growth, creating jobs, and improving the living standards of people in both nations.

According to Wang, a robust and constructive economic and trade relationship between China and the U.S. serves the mutual interests of both countries and aligns with the expectations of the international community. He expressed China's readiness to collaborate with the United States in fostering a better business environment for enterprises on both sides, which would yield more tangible benefits for their populations.

China has taken a firm stance against the U.S. decision to impose an additional 10 percent tariff on Chinese goods based on concerns related to fentanyl, implementing countermeasures deemed necessary to safeguard China's legitimate rights and interests.

Wang also noted that China has observed that it is facing multiple investigations tied to a memorandum named "America First Trade Policy." He expressed hope that the United States would approach these investigations with an objective, rational, and professional attitude while promoting transparency throughout the process.

"It is natural for China and the United States to have differences in the economic and trade field. We should address our respective concerns through equal dialogue and consultation," the minister concluded.
