Xi aims to strengthen ties and enhance collaboration with Cambodia
Chinese President Xi Jinping issued a written statement upon his arrival in Phnom Penh for a state visit to Cambodia on Thursday.

Upon his arrival, Xi received a warm welcome from Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, along with senior officials including Cambodian People's Party President and Senate President Samdech Techo Hun Sen, at a grand ceremony at the airport.
The atmosphere was festive as hundreds of locals waved the flags of both nations and held up banners proclaiming "Long live Cambodia-China friendship, solidarity and cooperation!" to greet the Chinese leader.
In his statement, Xi conveyed his delight in once again visiting Cambodia and expressed anticipation for discussions with King Sihamoni, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Hun Manet.
Acknowledging the timing of his visit coinciding with the Khmer New Year, Xi extended warm New Year wishes from the Chinese government and people to their Cambodian counterparts.
He praised Cambodia's rich history and noted that the remarkable Khmer civilization, built by the hardworking and talented Cambodian populace, has significantly enriched human civilization.
Xi also highlighted Cambodia's recent implementation of the Pentagonal Strategy, which has resulted in rapid economic growth and improvements in the living standards of its citizens. He expressed confidence that, with the guidance of King Sihamoni and the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Manet, the Cambodian people would continue to achieve new milestones in national development.
The Chinese President remarked on the enduring nature of China-Cambodia relations, emphasizing that they have been cultivated by previous generations of leaders and have remained steadfast despite global changes.
Xi stated that both nations have taken initiatives in creating a bilateral community with a shared future and have engaged in Belt and Road cooperation. He noted the mutual support between China and Cambodia for stability and development, highlighting their collaborative efforts to uphold international fairness and justice, setting an example for a new type of international relations while contributing to a global community with shared goals.
Emphasizing China’s commitment to prioritize Cambodia in its neighborhood diplomacy, Xi affirmed China's support for Cambodia’s pursuit of strategic independence and a tailored development path.
Looking ahead, he expected both nations to further enhance the "Diamond Hexagon" cooperation framework, elevate mutual political trust, broaden high-quality, mutually beneficial cooperation, ensure greater security, facilitate increased people-to-people exchanges, and enhance strategic coordination, all aimed at delivering more benefits to the citizens of both countries and contributing positively to regional peace and stability.
A crowd of over 20,000 local citizens, along with representatives from overseas Chinese communities, Chinese-funded businesses, and Chinese students, lined the streets to offer a warm reception to Xi.
