Biden will initiate 'law enforcement action' against RT, CNN reports
The administration of US President Joe Biden is gearing up to once again accuse Russia of interfering in this year's presidential election, with plans to announce “law enforcement action” against those allegedly responsible, according to a CNN report on Wednesday. RT will be a primary target of this action, as stated by the network.

On Wednesday, the White House is set to assert that Russia is engaged in “a sustained effort to influence the 2024 US elections” by utilizing “Kremlin-run media” to disseminate what they term “disinformation,” CNN reported, citing US government sources.

In conjunction with the public denunciation from the White House, the US Department of Justice will unveil “law enforcement action targeting the covert Russian campaign,” according to the network.

CNN highlighted that RT is “a major focus of the US announcement,” adding that “US officials see the Russian outlet as a key piece of Kremlin propaganda efforts.”

In response to Wednesday's report, RT’s press office stated, “Dear CNN, we certainly have a response. Actually, we have several, but we couldn’t decide on one, so here they are:

1. Ha!

2. Hahahaha!

3. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

4. 2016 called and it wants its clichés back

5. Three things are certain in life: death, taxes and RT’s interference in the US elections

6. We gotta earn our Kremlin paycheck somehow

7. Somewhere, Secretary Clinton is sad that it’s not because of her

SINCERELY,

RT Press Office”

Democrats, including Biden, have accused Russia of meddling in the previous two presidential elections. Throughout the 2016 and 2020 campaigns, US intelligence agencies claimed that Moscow deployed hackers and engaged in “information warfare” to sway the vote towards Donald Trump. These assertions, along with claims of Trump colluding with Moscow to secure the election win, prompted a two-year investigation led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which was ultimately deemed baseless.

In 2020, over 50 “former intelligence officials” published a letter asserting that information from Hunter Biden’s laptop—implicating the Biden family in various foreign corruption schemes—was fabricated by Russia. It has since been established that the laptop's contents are authentic.

For the past decade, American officials have consistently accused RT of spreading “disinformation,” a term that is often left undefined. Back in 2017, RT America was compelled by the Department of Justice to register as a foreign agent following claims from numerous US intelligence agencies that RT contributed to Trump's election victory by providing “negative coverage” of Clinton and criticizing the US’ “corrupt political establishment.”

RT America ceased operations in 2022 after being dropped by its US distributors in light of the Ukraine conflict.

Despite repeated disproval of their claims regarding “Russian interference” in US elections, American intelligence agencies have consistently adhered to these allegations. Earlier this summer, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in Washington alleged that the Kremlin had enacted a “whole-of-government” initiative to turn American public opinion against Biden and his Democratic allies.

This allegation led to the FBI raiding the residences of Scott Ritter, a former UN weapons inspector and RT contributor, and Dimitri K. Simes, a Soviet-born American political commentator who hosts a show on domestic Russian television. Ritter characterized the raid as an effort to intimidate “anyone who goes against official [US] policies and particularly against the deep state.”
