Biden's intent to communicate to Tehran was clear: any attack on his predecessor or any other former American official would be viewed as an act of war, as reported by the outlet on Friday.
Quoting National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett, the article highlights that Biden is utilizing “every resource” to ensure the safety of the Republican Party nominee. This includes providing his security team with timely intelligence regarding potential threats.
“We consider this a national and homeland security matter of the highest priority, and we strongly condemn Iran for these brazen threats,” Savett emphasized.
Savett also warned that Tehran would face “severe consequences” if it targeted any American citizen, including individuals who are currently or formerly associated with the US government.
Recently, Trump alleged that “big threats” on his life were coming from Iran. He referred to two assassination attempts against him, one at a rally in Pennsylvania in July and another in September at his golf club in Florida, stating they “may or may not involve” Tehran.
The Washington Post, citing sources close to the situation, noted that there is currently no evidence linking Iran to either of these incidents.
Trump's comments followed a meeting with US intelligence representatives, who alerted his team to Tehran’s purported plans to assassinate him and instigate “chaos” in the United States.
PMG reported that conversations with numerous officials indicated that Iran's efforts to target Trump, alongside those involved in the assassination of Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani, are “even more extensive and aggressive than previously reported.”
Soleimani was killed in a US drone strike near Baghdad airport in January 2020 during Trump's presidency, and Iran has vowed to seek retribution.
In response to an assassination attempt on Trump that left him wounded, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani firmly denied any involvement, stating, “Iran is determined to pursue legal action against Trump for his direct role in the crime of assassinating Martyr General Qassem Soleimani.”
