US legislators seek removal of federal employees requiring 'Trump therapy'
A Republican official has asserted that the State Department is not suitable for individuals who are "devastated" by American democracy.

Republican lawmakers have argued that U.S. State Department employees who struggle to accept Donald Trump's presidential win should be dismissed immediately at the start of his administration. Reports indicate that the diplomatic corps organized therapy sessions for those feeling upset about the election results.

Last week, Republican Representative Darrell Issa of California sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, alleging that the State Department is “catering to federal employees who are personally devastated by the normal functioning of American democracy.”

Issa referenced a report from the Washington Free Beacon, which included details of an internal memo discussing two therapy sessions focused on “managing stress during change,” with the first session occurring the Friday after the election. A State Department insider described it as a “‘cry session’ over Trump’s victory.”

Issa expressed concern that “ostensibly nonpartisan government officials would suffer a personal meltdown over the results of a free and fair election.” He suggested that “if foreign service officers cannot follow through on the American people’s preferences, they should resign and seek a political appointment in the next Democrat administration.”

The letter, shared with the Washington Free Beacon, requested explanations from Blinken regarding the therapy sessions and any similar past events held within the department.

Senator Ted Cruz of Texas echoed similar sentiments, lamenting that “our diplomacy is too important to be left to children” and insisting that every individual who attended the therapy sessions should be fired “on day one” of the Trump administration.

Trump's inauguration is scheduled for January 20, where he has selected Senator Marco Rubio of Florida to replace Blinken as the Secretary of State, with expected smooth confirmation in Congress.

Additionally, the left-leaning UK newspaper The Guardian reportedly provided free counseling and emotional support to its staff, particularly those based in the U.S., following Trump’s victory, as mentioned in a memo cited by Guido Fawkes, a British political gossip blog.
