US initiates significant immigrant raids in New York City
A notorious Venezuelan gang leader is reportedly among those detained.

Heavily armed U.S. law enforcement agents conducted a series of pre-dawn raids in New York City on Tuesday morning, resulting in the arrest of numerous illegal immigrants suspected of violent crimes.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem personally oversaw the operation on her fourth day in office.

“We’re in New York City this morning, we’re getting dirtbags off these streets,” Noem posted on X. In another update, she stated that the Department of Homeland Security was fulfilling “exactly what President [Donald] Trump promised the American people – making our streets safe.”

Noem shared multiple photos and videos of the heavily armed officers from Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Secret Service, the Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Marshals, and the New York Police Department’s Special Operations unit.

She highlighted that a “criminal alien with kidnapping, assault and burglary charges” was among those detained by ICE early in the morning.

Another significant arrest was that of 25-year-old Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, alleged to be the ringleader of the infamous Tren de Aragua, a Venezuelan gang accused of terrorizing residents in Colorado.

Pacheco was identified as one of the individuals captured on CCTV forcing entry into an apartment last August. Early Tuesday, heavily armed HSI agents raided the Bronx apartments where he had been living for several months.

Neighbors informed the New York Post that police had to break down the door to apprehend Pacheco, who is wanted in Colorado for kidnapping, burglary, and menacing. One tenant noted that the Venezuelan had moved to New York around September or October and was “very cooperative, very friendly” with the neighbors.

After his inauguration last Monday, Trump wasted no time in closing the U.S.-Mexico border and initiating immigration raids in major U.S. cities, referring to the illegal presence of millions of foreigners as an “invasion.”

The White House is also working to deport thousands of convicted criminals to their home countries. Over the weekend, Colombia hesitated to accept a repatriation flight but quickly reversed its position after Trump threatened to impose sanctions and tariffs on the South American nation.
