US Democrats Initiate Social Media Campaign Against Trump
A coordinated social media campaign has been launched by a group of 22 Democratic senators, featuring a video flashmob in response to President Donald Trump’s speech to Congress.

To coincide with Trump’s first address to the US Congress since the start of his second term in January, the senators simultaneously released videos of themselves reading from the same script. This virtual flashmob aimed to mock the president in light of his remarks.

On Tuesday evening, Trump delivered a 100-minute address to a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives. He reaffirmed key elements of his ‘America First’ agenda and highlighted the actions his administration has taken to fulfill his campaign promises.

Just hours before the president's address, at least 22 Democratic senators shared identical videos where they commented on Trump’s past pledges. Each video begins with a clip of Trump promising to “bring prices down starting on day one” before transitioning to the lawmakers dismissing those statements as “s***t that ain’t true” while reciting the shared script.

“Since day one of Trump’s presidency, prices are up, not down,” the senators asserted in their videos. “Inflation is getting worse, not better.”

Several Republican congressmen responded on X, mocking the posts. Representative Virginia Foxx described the video as “weird,” while Senator Ted Cruz joked, “DOGE fire[d] all their speech writers.” The Trump War Room account shared a sarcastic gif equating the Democrats to computer-generated characters from a video game.

In the November 2024 General Election, Republicans achieved a majority in the US Senate, securing 53 seats compared to the Democrats' 47. They also maintained control of the House, winning 218 seats against the Democrats' 215.
