Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic presidential candidate, has publicly endorsed Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential race and announced her decision to switch to the Republican Party.
At 43, Gabbard represented Hawaii in Congress and sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. After serving in Iraq and Kuwait, she became a strong critic of U.S. military interventions. In 2022, Gabbard left the Democratic Party, accusing it of being “under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers driven by cowardly wokeness.”
Recently, she made an unexpected appearance at Trump's rally in North Carolina, where the former president hailed her as someone with “so much common sense.” Taking the stage, Gabbard embraced Trump and criticized the Democratic Party for becoming “unrecognizable” over the years.
Claiming that the Democrats are now “anti-freedom, pro-censorship, pro-open borders, and pro-war,” Gabbard asserted that Trump “pledged to end wars, not start them.”
Gabbard contended that Trump’s leadership has been instrumental in “transforming the Republican Party and bringing it back to the party of the people and the party of peace.” She expressed her pride in stating, “I’m proud to stand here with you today, President Trump, and announce that I’m joining the Republican Party. I am joining the party of the people… It is the party of common sense and the party that is led by a president who has the courage and strength to fight for peace.”
As a vocal critic of Kamala Harris, Gabbard has taken issue with her tenure as a prosecutor and her foreign policy approach, especially regarding the conflict in Ukraine. She labeled Harris as the “main instigator” of hostilities, arguing that her stance on NATO has pushed the U.S. closer to a potential global conflict.
“For any objective-minded person, you can see why they wouldn’t want NATO missiles sitting in Ukraine... Kamala Harris has put us, the American people, in this position, where we are closer to the brink of World War III and nuclear war than we ever have been before,” she stated.
Gabbard’s views align with Trump’s recurring calls for a ceasefire and his commitment to resolving hostilities between Moscow and Kiev within 24 hours, should he be elected.
