Trump's Envoy to Ukraine Foresees Resolution of Conflict in Coming Months
According to retired US Army General Keith Kellogg, who is expected to become a special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, US President-elect Donald Trump could resolve the ongoing conflict between Moscow and Kiev “within the next few months.”

In an interview with Fox News on Friday, Kellogg suggested that Trump might even host both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky at his presidential inauguration. “President Trump plays three-level chess, and it wouldn’t surprise me if he did something like that. Could he do it? Of course, he could do it. He could make such a bold move,” Kellogg stated. He emphasized his belief that the situation in Ukraine will be addressed “within the next few months” because Trump is “the only person” capable of achieving this.

Kellogg further noted that nothing should be considered “beyond the realm of possible” at this time, adding that “he wouldn’t be surprised” by any unexpected actions taken by the new US president.

During his campaign, Trump consistently promised to end the conflict between Moscow and Kiev overnight, although he has yet to provide specific details about his plans to realize this goal. Recently, he mentioned that resolving the Ukrainian crisis, along with addressing hostilities in the Middle East, ranks among his “big priorities.” However, he indicated that settling the issues in the Middle East might be “less difficult” than dealing with the situation in Ukraine.

Moscow has shown skepticism regarding Trump’s assurances to resolve the conflict, characterizing his commitments as mere campaign rhetoric. After Trump secured his election victory, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov remarked that promises to end the conflict overnight were “an exaggeration of sorts.” He added, “If the new [US] administration seeks peace rather than a continuation of the conflict, it will be better than the previous one.”
