US President-elect Donald Trump posted what seems to be a private message directed at Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on his social media platform, Truth Social. The message revealed an invitation for Musk to visit Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
The incident, which occurred on Thursday, quickly garnered attention from users before the post was removed. Various media outlets shared screenshots that included Musk's response to the invitation, although it did not clarify whether he intended to attend.
“Where are you? When are you coming to the ‘Center of the Universe,’ Mar-a-Lago,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
He also mentioned that Microsoft founder Bill Gates had expressed interest in visiting on Friday night, adding: “We miss you and X! New Year’s Eve is going to be AMAZING!!!” He ended the message with his initials, “DJT.”
The reference to “X” is thought to pertain to Musk’s son, who is commonly known as “X.” Musk has publicly brought his son to various events, including meetings on Capitol Hill and Trump’s watch party at Mar-a-Lago during the November election.
This message arrives at a time when Musk – who has been appointed by Trump to co-lead a government efficiency initiative – is facing backlash from Trump supporters due to his backing of a visa program facilitating the immigration of highly skilled foreign workers to the U.S. Critics contend that H1-B visas are misused by American companies to employ foreign workers instead of qualified Americans.
Musk has frequently visited Mar-a-Lago in recent months, often appearing in family photos with Trump’s children and grandchildren, according to sources.
However, he was noticeably absent from recent Trump family celebrations. Instead, Musk shared a photo of himself dressed as Santa Claus, referring to himself as “Ozempic Santa,” a nod to weight-loss medication. He later clarified in a separate post that he was actually using Mounjaro, a similar drug.
