At a rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania, just two days ahead of election day, Trump expressed regret over leaving the White House after his 2020 defeat to Joe Biden, reiterating his assertions about “stolen elections.” He stated that the U.S. has devolved into “a failed country” due to the leadership of an “incompetent group of fools.”
Trump accused Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate, of failing to stem the influx of illegal migrants crossing the Mexico border.
“We had the safest border in the history of our country, the day I left,” Trump said. “I shouldn’t have left. I mean, honestly, because we did so, we did so well.”
The former president described the Democratic Party as a “corrupt machine” and asserted that the integrity of elections hinges on the exclusive use of paper ballots and mandatory voter IDs in U.S. states. “In California, you are not even allowed to ask for a voter ID. They are only doing it because they want to cheat,” he claimed.
Despite numerous court rulings that found no evidence of widespread voter fraud, Trump has never acknowledged his loss in the 2020 election. He ultimately left the presidency after a mob of his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021, momentarily disrupting the certification of Biden's victory.
