Local authorities have reported at least one fatality and several injuries resulting from a terrorist attack in the southern Israeli city.
On Sunday, Israeli police confirmed via a post on X that they received reports of a suspected shooting at the central bus station. They added that “the terrorist had been neutralized,” but did not provide additional details.
Magen David Adom, Israel's medical service, initially reported that nine individuals were injured in the attack and that the assailant was shot at the scene. Subsequently, The Times of Israel reported that one of the victims, a 25-year-old woman in critical condition, had succumbed to her wounds.

Ynet identified the attacker as a member of the Bedouin community from the Negev region, noting that he had a criminal history.
Graphic footage of the incident depicts chaotic scenes, with a woman, presumably a security guard, aiming a weapon at a male individual lying in a pool of blood. Other clips from the scene reveal another body on a bloodstained floor nearby.
This attack occurs amidst rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, including the assassination of the group's long-time leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was viewed as an embodiment of resistance against Israel.

In parallel, Israel continues its ground operations in Gaza aimed at dismantling the Hamas movement, which launched an offensive against the country last year. The ongoing conflict has led to significant devastation in the region, drawing widespread criticism of the Israeli military for what has been labeled as indiscriminate strikes on civilians.
