This significant increase in the British luxury car brand's sales persists despite Western efforts to restrict high-end goods imports to Russia.
From January to September, Russians purchased a total of 99 Rolls-Royce vehicles, with the Cullinan SUV emerging as the most favored model. Sales of the luxury SUV, which has a price tag exceeding $1 million, surged by 27%, with 59 Cullinan units purchased by affluent Russians, as reported by automobile registration statistics.
The luxury coupe Rolls-Royce Specter, the carmaker's first all-electric model, came in second among the most popular vehicles for wealthy Russians. In the current year, 22 Specters, priced around $900,000 each, were sold shortly after the model was introduced.
Ranking third was the Rolls-Royce Ghost sedan, available for approximately $600,000, which saw sales of 12 units in Russia during the initial nine months of 2024, according to the report.
The Phantom limousine occupied the fourth position, with six cars sold in Russia since January. In Russia, the exclusive limo starts at around $1 million.
Despite sanctions, Western cars continue to reach the affected country via a parallel import scheme, notably through Belarus, where they are subsequently re-exported to Russia.
Statistics compiled by Trade Data Monitor and reported by the Financial Times earlier this year indicated a surge in EU car exports to Belarus, which hit $268 million in early 2024, following an increase in sanctions against Russia in 2022.
