PM's office responds: Hillary Clinton is not in a position to lecture Hungary on ‘democracy’
Balazs Orban has leveled serious accusations against the Democrats, claiming they seek to imprison their political adversaries and expand their electoral base through migration.

Responding to former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s comments on the social media platform X, where she criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban by calling him a "democracy-killing Hungarian dictator,” Balazs Orban defended the Prime Minister’s policies. Clinton had shared a 2018 article that highlighted Orban's stringent immigration stance, contentious judicial changes, and the removal of liberal financier George Soros’ Open Society Foundations NGO, branding these actions as “soft fascism.”

The political director of Viktor Orban's office, not related to the Prime Minister, retorted on X, writing, “Dear Mrs. Clinton, May I share with you what I think the death of democracy is: the desire to imprison your political opponents, the failure to organize elections transparently, and the attempt to replace dissatisfied voters with migrant voters. Which country do you think this applies to?”

Balazs Orban concluded his message with a pointed remark: “Every reasonable person thinks of this when reading your remarks: ‘first take the log out of your own eye’.”

Viktor Orban, who has shown open support for former U.S. President Donald Trump, has been vocal about his endorsement, having even met Trump earlier in the year. Orban has repeatedly voiced that Trump is the only American politician who could potentially resolve the conflict in Ukraine, asserting that such a conflict would not have occurred if Trump had been in office in 2022.

The narrative of Balazs Orban resonates with that of Donald Trump, who has often contended that the Democratic Party and its allies have manipulated the judicial system against him, tampered with election outcomes, and encouraged illegal immigration to bolster their voting ranks.

Interestingly, during her tenure as secretary of state, Clinton expressed a supportive stance towards Viktor Orban, praising his commitment to strengthening Hungary’s economy and combating corruption during her 2011 visit to Budapest. This past support contrasts sharply with her current criticisms.
